The Role
We are looking for a Countryside Maintenance Ranger to help us take care of our Trails on former railway lines. The National Park Authority owns and manages 4 different former railway lines, covering 34 miles within the Peak Park.

In the role you will be part of the small Trails Ranger Team that is responsible for the management and maintenance of these Trails throughout the year. The role will focus on the practical maintenance tasks associated with the Trails, including fencing, drystone walling, tree felling and management, grass mowing and strimming, vegetation control, surface maintenance and liaising with volunteers who help on the Trail.

The role also assists with the management of the visitor facilities on the Trail sites including public toilet maintenance, car park machine first line maintenance and other property maintenance tasks.

About You
It is essential that you have experience in practical countryside management tasks, health and safety knowledge and are used to working on sites where members of the public are present.

The post is a fixed term post for 2 years from date of commencement, and is 2 days per week covering either Tues and Wed or Wed and Thurs. The post is based at our Ashford Depot but the works will completed onsite along the Trails outside all year round.
