This exciting opportunity is a DEFRA funded Landscape Recovery Round 2 Pilot project led by the Peak District National Park Authority and supported by the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust and National Parks Partnership.

MHC is an area of upland and associated foothills in the south-west of the Peak District National Park. The ambition of MHC is to provide hope and inspiration for enhancing biodiversity in one of the worlds most visited national parks – the Peak District. Working with at least 15 private and public land managers to develop a sustainable business model across at least 2,563 ha to create a ‘bigger, better, and more connected natural landscape’.

Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary liaison for MHC, fostering strong relationships with farmers, land managers, partners, stakeholders, and the local community.
- Manage the MHC team to ensure timely, quality, and within-budget delivery, aligned with project objectives.
- Oversee project management aspects, including procurement, risk management, budgeting, and reporting compliance.

Requirements:
- Degree or equivalent experience in environmental or heritage disciplines.
- Demonstrated experience in project or programme management including planning, delivery, finance, monitoring & evaluation.
- Knowledge of conservation, ecosystem services and access to the countryside and the interaction between recreation, land management and conservation.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and advocacy skills.

Desirable:
- Understanding of Government departments and habitat/species management.
- Familiarity with upland habitat and cultural heritage management.

This post is initially until 30 April 2026, however there may be opportunity for extension if the pilot project is a success and further funding is secured.
